Please feel free to tell me what a monumentally bad idea this is, but it struck me and I thought I'd float it.  There seem to be fic exchanges left/right, for about everything under the sun.  And I'm fully aware that people are burnt out at this point.

What about a Dead Bunny Exchange?  Everyone has 1 or 2 chapters of a fic that went nowhere.  Or maybe you penned a little something and then your Muse gave you the finger.  Whatever.  But how does the idea grab you of exchanging them and having someone else finish your dead plot bunny?  Has anyone ever done this?

Just a thought.

Yeah, I don't have that kind of time either.

I just popped back on. I dont have dead fic bunnies.

I do have a cosplay bunny I am trying to desperately kill. Please kill Civil Servant Snape now. Please have Civil Servant Snape go mess with someonelse head. I have too much to do. -sigh-

Go beat up Dicky, it's her fault. But she's so nice, it would be like kicking a puppy.

I think this is a good idea. But tread carefully, as some abandoned wips are due to folks dropping them and leaving the fandom and no one knows how to find them. Folks have to give up dead (or nearly dead)bunnies freely.

I am so tired my typing is extra terrible. Hence the edit.

That's an interesting idea, unless this is your way of saying you don't know how to finish your current WIP and it's up for grabs, damn it.

I don't have any abandoned stuff, though, so I'd watch from the sidelines. For the record, all the prompts for the current exchange that didn't get used are going up for adoption. That means all three of mine since (see icon!) I got art. ~twirls~

Go grab some sleep droxy. Without sweet beauty rest armholes get sewn on wonky, and you end up ripping things out because you fuckered it all up. Then there's much cussing involved, and it's not healthy at all.

This is one of those 'nice thoughts' that will probably go nowhere. And I'd invite people to donate/exchange their dead bunnies, not usurp someone's abandoned fic without permission. Ack! Who am I kidding? I'm not a responsible adult. Me Modding anything is very much in the realm of 'Bad Idea.'

Sleep Droxy, and be refreshed.

Nah, not TGC. I do have a few fics that never got past infancy. I haven't posted them. I don't believe in posting something where a future is uncertain. Mostly because I don't approve of abandoning fics. It's cruel to readers and insulting to their loyalty.

Wee! for lovely art. But the last thing I have any interest is in picking up any extra prompts. And I do like your cabbage rose teacup CoMC icon. Iz spiffy.

Really Mz Apollinav - don't you have more important things you really should be doing besides scraping road kill?

I think there's a comm somewhere forf this. But you could always put a bunny up for adoption.

I have one I'd put up for adoption. I think someone actually emailed me about it -- I'll have to go back and see. Muse? That bastard hasn't been to visit me in months. I think I scared him off when I tried to handcuff him to my bed. :P

Nope, that's a GREAT idea! I just don't think I know very many people who could finish off West wing, Profiler, or star Trek. But I might take this idea and run with it if that's okay with you.

I think you might have more luck if you kept it fandom specific. Also you could start small and just post something on your LJ as a first come first served thing, see how sucessful that is before you launch an exchange. As a fangirl I completely support anything that gives me more fic to read! Wheeeeeee!

You bring up a decent point... that perhaps there is a reason why something's dead. Not all ideas have merit. And I'm ignoring your assertion that I have better things to do with my time because I know where that is going. (S)Tink!

Yeah, there is always plot-bunny adoption centers. Though I was elsewhere with the thought. Still, not all ideas are good ideas. My 'ooh shiny' thought is quite dim.

That bastard ran out on you too? Fucking Muses. Next time ward the house first. Eh, I'm aware of adoption, but I was thinking in 'ooh shiny' terms of, 'How cool would it be if someone finished this and I finished theirs, and we could all have a whole bunch of new fics... and wouldn't be easy to finish if half the story was already written...' And it's a logistical nightmare. Aside from the fact that sometimes plotbunnies die for a reason. Sometimes it's just not meant to be.

All yours babe. Though it also occures to me what an utter logistical nightmare this is.

You also know I don't move outside the HP fandom. I don't get out much...

OHBYTHEWAY- I'll be in Phoenix 5-7 May. How's that for dropping a small bomb?

*Whistles and walks away*

See, you're just supportive period. But that's why I love you. You do know that, right? It is a logistical nightmare. And while there is some merit here/there... perhaps, this is one of those ideas that will probably not get off the ground. It's not fishing well, but it's all a learning experience. Thanks babe.

*HUGS*

Thank you. I'd share one of the passes if it were possible. We could all have a nice free day.

Then again, I live in a rich fantasy world.

As a side issue, this topic (sort of) came up in comments on another LJ. And several people voiced intent to maim if somebody picked up one of their abandoned fics with intent to finish it for them.

So make sure, if you pursue this, that it's clearly defined and doesn't involve going out and finding abandoned fics to finish. Because just because somebody hasn't updated in a long time doesn't mean they want somebody else stepping in.

No, no, no. Not at all. That would be highly crass and utterly wrong. No I was thinking of a voluntary exchange, like any other. Offering your own work.

Ye gads!

I hope nobody got that impression. And if I did have an abandoned fic hanging out their, I think I'd track down whomever attempted to finish without permission and murder with my bear hands.
