The premise is simple: very talented people are offering their art/talents/food/writing/etcs. in an auction closing Wednesday 20 January.
In lieu of payment to the artist - you make a charitable donation to a relief agency - Red Cross, Red Cresent, UNICEF, etc...
I have offered a wool and silk demi-cloak here: http://community.livejournal.com/help_haiti/822.html?thread=2869046#t2869046

Date: 16 January 2010 04:44 am (UTC)Regardless, congrats on that babe.
Vegas... Vegas... Vegas...
Lemme know if that comes to fruition. I'll be in Florida in March, and probably Salt Lake some time in April -tentatively- but I might be able to swing Vegas. If we can time it right you can bunk with me.
I'll give you details off line.

Date: 16 January 2010 04:44 am (UTC)i'm sure people WILL outbid me on the helphaiti site ... but I DO want a cloak of just that caliber. In fact, I was going to go to the Ren Faire this year and look for one. But why buy a Ren Faire cloak when I have an uber-talented bud who can MAKE me one?
So tell me, babe, how much would you charge for one? And can you make me one without having me around for a fitting? Anything you make is going to be better quality than the ones at the Ren Faire which are actually too hot for AZ (velvet and damask, mostly). Let me know, schweetum.

Date: 16 January 2010 04:48 am (UTC)1. Cloaks really aren't fitted except around the neck. It's a 360 degree circle cape meaning one size fits all.
2. Perhaps you should consider a thin cotton brocade and perhaps a dishy linen lining. Regardless, I rec going with a natural fiber if you're worried about schwetting through it.
3. You thinking full ankle-length or demi?
4. Iz easy-peasy.
5. Cost depends entirely on price of fabric. It takes the same length of time to make something out of silk as it does to make something out of cotton.

Date: 17 January 2010 04:47 am (UTC)If you mean for the Exchange, I'm not doing it. I don't have the time to juggle another ball in the air - especially something as demanding as the Exchange. Now's really not good for me, but maybe next year.
